How to Choose a Filter Press

In industrial production, the filter press, as a key equipment for solid-liquid separation, requires comprehensive multi-dimensional considerations for its selection due to the differences in industry characteristics.

The chemical industry has complex material compositions and often involves strong corrosion. For instance, when dealing with strong acidic solutions such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, PP filter press can be selected along with acid-resistant PP filter cloths. Additionally, if customer has enough budget, we might recommend stainless steel coating, CGR gasketed design etc, so that comprehensive improve the machine’s working performance; When handling high temperature materials, chamber filter press will be first choice so that work stable.

In the wastewater treatment field, the main task is sludge dewatering. Many sewage, such as municipal sludge, tannery sludge, slaughter wastewater, paper making wastewater etc., have a high water content and is highly viscosity, a membrane filter press is more suitable. Through membrane squeezing, the water content of the sludge can be further reduced; for some industries, such as: stone cutting wastewater, aggregate wastewater, concrete wastewater, mining tailings etc., normally has high solids content, then a chamber filter press will be selected to save cost.

In the food industry, the requirements are extremely high. If a filter press for foodstuff, such as wine, liquor, beer, sake, juices, edible oil, starch, and so on, it will consider more. Let’s take an example on liquors, we not only must consider their taste: pp filter press or stainless steel steel? Which is better? Additionally, we have to consider the filtering medium, filtration accuracy. If for distillers' grains, a membrane filter press works with filter clothes will be ok; but if for final clarification, we might recommend filter papers for ultra-filtration.

In the mining industry, ore particles are large and hard, and the wear resistance of equipment is strictly required. So this industry, we normally adopt heavy design.
